Experience & Expertise

Marjan Hekmat has more than 25 years of financial leadership experience, with expertise in government contracting, strategic finance, accounting, budgeting and forecasting, financial planning and analysis, government contract compliance, proposal pricing, treasury management, and business transformation.

Prior to joining IFAS, Ms. Hekmat served as Chief Financial Officer of Management Concepts. In this role, she led financial strategy, accounting, budgeting and forecasting, treasury operations, and Board-level financial reporting. She also led the finance ERP implementation and supported business operations and business development through pricing, contract analysis, and financial guidance.

Previously, Ms. Hekmat served for nearly ten years as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Centuria Corporation, an IT and engineering government contractor. She directed financial management and regulatory compliance across a diverse government contract portfolio, including FAR, DFARS, CAS, DCAA audit readiness, indirect rate development, incurred cost submissions, and proposal pricing. She also served as the financial lead on major competitive proposals and partnered with executive leadership on strategic planning and growth initiatives.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Hekmat provided outsourced Controller and CFO services while working with consulting and audit firms and held a financial leadership position with BAE Systems. These roles broadened her experience in financial reporting, internal controls, regulatory compliance and financial governance.

Ms. Hekmat holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics with a minor in Accounting from the University of Maryland, College Park, and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Maryland.
